Syrian sources deny intention to arrest Nayouf
Syrian official sources denied in a special statement to the Jordanian news agency Petra that the Syrian authorities have any intention to arrest the opposition journalist Nizar Nayouf upon his return back to Syria on the background of statements he made in France.
These Syrian sources considered Nayouf's statements as lacking to a great extent credibility, noting that that the Syrian authorities which gave Nayouf a passport and permitted him to travel to Paris has been careful not to give him any pretext to build his claims on it.
On the claim that he was kidnapped before he left for Paris, the same Syrian sources explained that the former chairman of the Syrian military intelligence Ali Douba was in a state of " home arrest " and Nayouf during the same period of time was also under " home arrest" condition and questioned how can two persons, each in a state of " home arrest", that one of them to kidnap the other and to keep him for more than 24 hours, noting that Douba is a retired officer.
