Qatar threatens Jordan to resort to the law

Originally published

The state of Qatar announced on Saturday ( June 23) that it will take all necessary measures, ensured by the international law against Jordan for holding the Qatari plane in Amman since almost 10 days. The plane has on its board one of the leading figures of the Islamic resistance movement Hamas -- Ibrahim Ghoushe.

News reports quoted an official source at the Qatari foreign ministry as saying that Qatar considers members of the plane's crew as restricted in their freedom in Jordan and that the plane of the Qatari airline is held there without a legal basis.

In statements issued by the Qatari dailies on Saturday, the source explained that the case of Ghoushe is an internal Jordanian matter, in which has nothing at all to do with Qatar.

The source indicated that the Jordanian authorities prevented on Friday evening members of the plane crew from leaving the Jordanian territories and dealt improperly with the Qatari ambassador to Jordan who accompanied the team in his car to the airport and members of the crew.

The Jordanian minister of information Saeed al-Qallab had prevented the Qatari ambassador from leaving the country together with members of the Plane's crew.

He explained that the airport's authorities told the ambassador that he is personally welcomed and he can leave from the hall of honor at the airport but members of the Qatari plane crew can not leave with him unless an alternative crew comes as a substitute.
