Beit Mal Al Quds' tutorship committee meets next week in Rabat
The tutorship committee of the Beit Mal Al Quds will meet in Rabat this June 22-23, Moroccan foreign affairs and cooperation minister, Mohammed Benaissa, announced.
An experts meeting will convene on June 20-21 prior to the committee which groups Morocco, Senegal, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Palestine, said Benaissa.
Bait Mal Al Quds is a fund set up in 1995 upon a proposal by the late King Hassan II, chairman of Al-Quds committee, an offshoot of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC). The fund endeavors to save Al-Quds, defend the Palestinian rights over the city, support their resistance and safeguard the city's cultural, religious and architectural legacy.
Bait Mal Al Quds serves as an agency to raise material and financial resources from member states of the OIC, private bodies and institutions, Muslim communities and associations and individuals.
Benaissa, who took part in the Arab follow-up committee meeting in Amman, had regretted the non-payment of some Islamic countries of their financial commitments vis-a-vis the institution. He also hoped that next week's meeting will avail the opportunity to debate the fund's initiatives to defend the city against Jewish attempts to obliterate its Arab and Islamic identity.
