Moroccan association calls for boycott of Israeli products
Secretary general of the Moroccan association of support to the Palestinian struggle, Khaled Sefiani, called on Wednesday for the boycott of Israeli products.
Sefiani launched the call in an address before a rally of solidarity with the Palestinian people held Wednesday in Sale, Rabat's twin city, by the association's local committee.
Sefiani renewed the Moroccan people's unfailing backing to the Palestinian resistance and surveyed the sufferings of the Palestinians because of the blockade imposed on the Palestinian territories.
After he underlined the courage and resistance of the Palestinian people, he noted that the Palestinians are in dire need of financial backing, as their lands have been spoiled, their lodgings destroyed and their harvest burnt down. Some 350,000 Palestinians have been fired and scores of heads of households have been assassinated, leaving their families prey to starvation and poverty, he said.
Minister delegate at the Palestinian embassy in Rabat, Ouassef Mansour, said the Palestinian people have been suffering for too long and that the visit of Israeli Premier Ariel Sharon to Al Aqsa mosque was the last straw that ignited the Al-Aqsa intifada.
He added that Israel's excessive use of violence and its "collective sanctions" policy consolidate further the Palestinians' steadfastness and resolve to defend their cause and the sacred values of Islam.
Since the beginning of the Al-Aqsa intifada last September, 600 Palestinians have been killed and 26,000 others have been injured, he recalled, deploring the passive attitude of Palestine's neighboring countries.
In Fez, the regional association of young attorneys on Tuesday held a meeting of solidarity with the Palestinians with the participation of delegates of several human rights organizations.
Participants in the meeting denounced the massacres perpetrated by the Israeli occupying forces, with the backing of the United States, and called for further material and moral backing to the Palestinian people.
