Court orders confiscation of Monday's edition of Al-Nabaa newspaper

Originally published

A Cairo court issued an injunction yesterday at the request of the State Security Prosecution to prevent the independent weekly newspaper 'Al-Nabaa' from publishing any further material about the scandalous sexual orgies of a bishop in Upper Egypt.

The South Cairo Court presided over by judge Ali Abdel Shakour, also ordered the confiscation of yesterday's edition of 'Al-Nabaa', which contained sexually explicit photographs of bishop Barsoum el-Mahrouki with several female churchgoers.

Minister of Interior Habeib el-Adli ordered the arrest of the bishop and the State Security Prosecution ordered him to be remanded in custody for 15 days.

The prosecution has opened a probe into the case which is today unprecedented in Egypt. Al-Nabaa also printed appalling details about the bishop's depraved sexual liaisons.
