Beijing willing to cooperate with Alexandria library

Originally published

Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Yang Wen Chang has voiced China's interest in securing a large presence at the Alexandria Library in due proportion with the depth of the Chinese civilisation, considering the library's status as an institution showcasing the different world cultures.

Egypt's Ambassador in Beijing Muhammad No'aman said in statements on Friday that he discussed with Yang the question of cultural dialogue between Egypt and China, in view of the two countries being the most ancient civilisations in the world.

The two sides agreed on holding a cultural dialogue symposium to be among the first events taking place after the library's inauguration late this year.

China, No'aman said, is willing to make further contributions to the library in addition to the collection of old books and the computer sets it has offered before.
