No Syrian, Egyptian competition over a greater role in the ME
The Jordanian minister of information Taleb al-Refai has denied that there is competition between Syria, Jordan and Egypt for the greatest role in the Middle East.
In an exclusive statement with the Kuwaiti daily al-Seyash made with him in Dubai, the Jordanian minister said that Jordan is more sensitive towards the interests of the Palestinians and is more able to play an effective role, noting that Jordan's position is reinforced by the credibility it enjoys at the international level, but that the center of weight ( the focal point) always goes towards Syria and Egypt. The Jordanian minister added that the Arab efforts are integrated and that the Arabs share the roles but do not compete.
The Jordanian minister indicated that following the recent Amman's summit new developments took place on the Palestinian territories that required revision of the mechanism though which support is given to the Palestinians.
