Syria: Civil society committee announces a social contract

Originally published

The Constituent commission of the civil society committees in Syria has issued its second document under the title " a national social contract in Syria," including what it considered the " national principles on the ground of which reforms are to be based."

This was just three months after the release of the basic document of the committee in charge of reviving the civil society.

The document says it proposes " general national consensus to be a base for a new social, political and moral contract," which will be the ground for a " comprehensive national dialogue" based on a set of principles which state "the honor and freedom of the individual and human rights connected to the law and the sense of responsibility" and " setting national unity," and " strengthening the independence of the homeland, the sovereignty of the state and liberation of the occupied lands" and " work to rebuilding Arab solidarity and enabling citizens "choosing their representatives at all levels."
