Study stresses need to turn car making into Arab strategic industry
A study conducted by the Arab industrial development organization stressed the need to turn car making into a strategic industry and a Pan-Arab goal on the top of Arab economic planning priorities, reported the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA.
The study called for injecting investments in the development of technologies through scientific research and noted that Arab states have ten years before the liberalization of world trade to rehabilitate their car industries.
Arab production of cars represents only 0.002 per cent of international production, said the study noting that high production costs, the technological gap and other problems are hampering car industries in the Arab states.
