Venezuelan MPs voice support to Morocco's cause
The Venezuelan-Moroccan friendship association at the Venezuelan national assembly has voiced support to Morocco's cause in the Sahara issue.
"We are with you and be assured of our full commitment to defend your cause," vice-chairman of the group told Sahrawi heads of tribes, elected officials, delegates of non-governmental organizations and persons who fled the sequestration camps and returned to Morocco.
The Venezuelan MPs heard detailed accounts on the inhumane living conditions in the separatist-Tindouf camps, southwestern Algeria. They were also asked to intervene with the international public opinion to end the blatant violations of human rights going on in the camps.
A former director of the notorious prison "Errachid" who rallied Morocco revealed the torture and barbarous practices used by the separatists against the persons who dare to claim their Moroccan citizenship. An appeal was also launched for the lifting of the siege imposed on the populations forcibly held in the camps and for an end to the embezzlement of foreign aid which goes to personal ends.
Representatives of women associations denounced the alarming situation of women in the camps.
Chairman of the Venezuelan-Moroccan friendship association said the testimony and reports they heard helped them understand the situation in the region and hoped that the Sahara issue will be soon settled.
