Originally published

The governing board of the Arab ports Federation will hold its coming session in Morocco next October.

The decision was made by the board at a meeting it held last week in Tripoli, Northern Lebanon.

The Tripoli session also adopted a memorandum of understanding on states' monitoring of ships in harbors and convened to extend the term of the federation secretary general, Ahmed Sayyed Hamida.

Saudi ports, the port of Tripoli, a research center and a dockers' training institute, stemming from the Arab maritime transport and technology academy, were admitted as new members of the federation.

The federation of Arab ports is a specialized body stemming from the Arab economic unity council.
