On al-Assad's visit to France

Originally published

The Lebanese daily al-Nahar issued on Friday expected in a report that the issue of Lebanon will be one of the files listed in the agenda of talks between the French President Jacques Chirac and the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad during President al-Assad's expected visit to Paris within the two coming months.

The paper stressed that France's raising of this file will be from the angle of the special openness by the Syrian President to the French Capital before he assumed presidency in Syria, noting that discussing of this matter will not be from a sectarian perspective or a certain group, rather stems from France's care on preserving Lebanon's independence and freedom of its own decision, taking into account France's interests in both Lebanon and Syria.
