France discuss rearming the Syrian army

A delegation from the French senates council raised with Syrian officials the subject of rearming the Syrian army during a 5 day visit to Syria that was concluded yesterday.

Senator Serje Fanson, member of the French delegation said that the Syrian - Lebanese relations were discussed in the shadow of the Taef agreement and the peace process in the area, considering the visit forming a boost in the French - Syrian relations.

The delegation which comprised 41 industrial, military and political personalities held intensive meetings with the defense minister, the foreign minister, the information minister the economy minister, the industry minister as well as representatives of the Syrian private sector.

The delegation expressed adherence to supporting cooperation with Syria especially in the technical, militarily, investment and technology fields.
