Blair phones Sharon

Originally published

The British Prime minister Tony Blair on Wednesday made a telephone call with the Israeli prime minister elected Ariel Sharon. The Israeli radio quoted the spokesman for the British prime minister as saying that the telephone call lasted for five minutes in which Blair stressed that Britain and the European Union are still ready to play a useful role in the peace process.

Sharon, for his part, briefed the British prime minister with the main headlines of his policy towards the peace process and other issues. The two men agreed to continue their contacts.
