The London based al-Zamaan daily said that a high ranking committee in Syria, including the ministry of justice and other security sides is preparing lists with the names of who are in custody and to dissolve their conditions either by releasing them or bringing them before the court.

In its Tuesday's issue in a report from Damascus, the paper added the committee will do so at the directives of President Bashar al-Assad who had earlier pardoned some 625 political detainees, with remarks on the possibility of a new Amnesty.

The paper noted a message undersigned by 55 Syrian lawyers in which they expressed great satisfaction over the new directives of the President but they criticized the way the two decrees implemented by sides concerned when the two decrees released to this effect were implemented in a negative way. They explained that the minister of justice Nabil al-Khatib gave his instructions not to release any of the arrested, regardless to the crime committed unless the person had been held for several months. A matter which is considered as a violation to the decree and the legal base which says that the convicted is innocent until his guilt is proved.

The lawyers expressed their hope to take all possible measures so as the enacted laws to take their proper track and to eliminate all impeding obstacles.
