Canadian firms have an eye on oil-prospecting in Morocco
A delegation of the Moroccan oil research and exploitation office "ONAREP" is shortly to visit Calgary in Canada for technical presentation to local firms of offshore exploration for oil in the stretch from Rabat to Safi on the Atlantic coast.
The latest release of the "Africa Energy Intelligence" says the campaign confirms Canadian firms' interest in oil-prospecting in the kingdom which signed in 2000 contracts with Royal Dutch/Shell, Skidmore Energy, Vanco, Vanco/Lasmo and Enterprise Oil/Kerr-McGee/Energy Africa. It also recalled that similar promotion moves have been staged in London and Houston and that the deadline for the Rabat-Safi offshore offers is set for end of April 2001.
AEI also says bilateral talks are underway for more exploration permits in the first quarter of this year, prolongation of expiring ones and conversion of reconnaissance contracts into exploration works.
