Jordanian information ministry closes al-Hadath news paper
The Jordanian weekly al-Hadath (event) was informed on Wednesday the decision made by the Jordanian information minister Taleb al-Refaa to suspend its publication until its chief editor is replaced. The weekly's chief editor's membership at the Jordanian journalists Union was cancelled.
The minister's notification was made on December 12 after the Jordanian journalists union cancelled the membership of Nidal Mansour and prevented him from practicing journalism for one year after he was convicted of receiving sums from abroad. A matter which is considered a violation to the rules of the Jordanian Journalists Union.
