Israeli threats to Syria, Lebanon

The London- based al-Hayat daily said on Sunday that the US administration conveyed to Damascus and Beirut Israeli threats of a large-scale military action targeting the Syrian troops in Lebanon if the military operations carried out by the Hizbullah party in the occupied Shebaa farms are not halted.

The paper learnt from well-informed sources in Washington that the US ambassador in Damascus Rayan Crocker recently conveyed his administration's view point to a high ranking official at the Syrian foreign ministry.

Lebanon's ambassador in Washington Fareed Abboud had met with officials at the White House who informed him that any new attack launched by Hizbullah against Israel will result in a catastrophe.
