Moroccan bar: referendum in Sahara has become outdated
Morocco's bar association said the referendum process in the Sahara has become "outdated," renewing a firm and constant stance of the professionals regarding the issue of Moroccan territorial integrity.
In a statement published at the end of a recent meeting of its bureau, the association called the government, political parties and human rights organizations to conduct an international campaign "for the lifting of the siege imposed on Moroccan Sahrawis sequestered in the Lahmada camps and who are living in conditions that do not meet the most basic human rights principles."
The association also calls for an end to the Spanish colonization of the two Moroccan cities, Sebta and Mellilia, and of the Jaafarines Islands.
Regarding the Palestinian cause, the bar association says financial and political backing to the Palestinian people is necessary if the Intifadah (popular uprising) is to fulfill the Palestinian people aspirations for the liberation of their land and the establishment of an independent state with Al-Quds as its capital.
