Originally published

France announced on Friday that the date of the Euro-Mediterranean conference slated for this Nov.15-16 in the French port city of Marseille will be maintained.

All countries bordering the Mediterranean sea are invited, including Libya which will have a status of special guest, said spokesman of the French foreign department, Francois Rivasseau.

We have not been informed of any non-participation, he said.

Spanish foreign minister, Josep Pique had said that Syria was still hesitating and its non-participation could be followed by Lebanon.

Diplomatic sources in Paris predicted that the crisis in the Middle East could cause the cancellation of the conference.
