Morocco in international human rights symposium in Mali

Originally published

Moroccan minister of human rights, Mohamed Aujjar, is taking part in the international symposium on democratic practices, human rights and public freedoms in the francophone space held in Bamako, Mali, November 1-4.

The symposium debates democratic processes, the exercise of public freedoms and means to guarantee legality and honesty of electoral processes in francophone countries, a statement by the Moroccan human rights ministry said.

The encounter also debates the democratization of the exercise of power and the institutionalization of mechanisms promoting and increasing the independence of justice. The problematic of whether political democracy should precede economic development or not is also in the agenda.

The meeting will look into the general report of the second preparatory meeting to the symposium held last March in N'Djamena (Chad), and devoted to democracy institutions and the rule of the law.

The symposium, featuring round tables, will adopt the Bamako declaration and its program of action will enable to base democratic processes on sound and viable foundations, the statement said.
