The Africa Committee of the Socialist International (SI) meeting in Praia, Cape Verde, called Tuesday for the respect of historic rights, territorial integrity and national unity of states in keeping with international legality.

Participants adopted a resolution referring to another one adopted two years ago in Dakar pointing out to a legal paradox which is a "State" (the so-called "sadr") is officially negotiating, with UNO assistance, a referendum of self-determination in the Sahara.

The USFP representative to the Praia meeting Abdeslam Debbagh said the Cairo Euro-Africa meeting showed, in its shape and its content, what fair and balanced relations between the two continents ought to be. He recalled how the summit was delayed till pull-out of the ghostly entity and how the Moroccan sovereign announced in the Egyptian capital the annulment of debts of the poorest countries of the continent leading the way in what South-South cooperation should be.

The SI committee meeting was attended by delegates of several African and European countries and European MPS.
