Yemen and the investigation over the attack on the US warship
Sources close to investigations taking place over the attack took place on October 12 against the USS Cole warship said that Yemen at the meantime is concentrating in its investigation on four persons who are presumed to be the main planners for the attack.
The sources added that personal documents of the four persons, whose residence is not known yet since the explosion, were issued between the years 1996 and 1997 and were dismissed from the government's archive.
The sources added that at least the document for one person were false, issued in Lahj province and used in renting three houses and the boat which was used in the attack against the US warship.
The same sources continued that preparations for this operation started in March when a person came to the Yemeni naval police to register a white boat and used the false documents for this purpose, adding that when that person was asked to bring the boat for test he said it is under repair.
The sources also stressed that preliminary Yemeni investigations were made without the participation of American investigators and then the results were sent to the American investigators who followed up the matter.
They continued that two persons were arrested in Lahj, north Aden, suspected to have taken part in the preparation for the two explosions which took place in two hotels in Aden in December 1993.
