Originally published

Breast and uterus cancers are two major threats to Maghreb women requiring a new dynamic for early detection and limitation and Maghreban strategies to fight the diseases, said premier Abderrahmane Youssoufi.

In a message read out Friday evening on his behalf by secretary of state in charge of women conditions Nezha Chekrouni at the opening ceremony of the 2d Congress of the Maghreban gynecology and obstetrics Federation, he said giving-birth was still a problem in Maghreb countries insisting on negative consequences on mother and child.

He also called for more immunization, prevention and sensitizing campaigns to bring down post-delivery mortality and further enhance procreative health.

The congress devoted this year to breast and uterus cancers and the Caesarean is attended by officials and specialists from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Mauritania. It probes means to improve health standards in the region and cooperation with similar bodies from Mediterranean, French-speaking and other countries.
