UN military observers deployed on Eritrean- Ethiopian border
A group of 15 UN military observers were on Friday deployed along the Eritrean- Ethiopian borders so as to pave the way before deploying a UN peace keeping force there composed of 4200 troopers.
Canadian Col. Richard Rider said that the mission of this group is to contact the local military and civilian authorities and to get information to help the deployment of the UN peace keeping forces which are expected to reach the area in November.
Worthy mentioning that the UN 15 observers are the first patch of other 100 observers, the UN security council decided to dispatch by the end of last July for a period of six months equally to each of Eritrea and Ethiopia.
The UN has approved the deployment of a UN keeping forces following a peace agreement between Ethiopia and Eritrea in Algeria in June 18 after two years of border conflict between them.
