Sudanese authority arrest 50 of Torabi's followers
The Sudanese authorities arrested yesterday 50 followers of Hasan El-Torabi after demonstrations that broke out in the last few days in the cities of Fasher and Niala in west Sudan and Port Sudan in the East.
The National People's Conference party headed by Hasan El-Torabi distributed to journalists a statement that comprises a list of those arrested saying that most of them are school and university students.
The statement said that the authorities is looking for Adam Yusef the former agriculture minister who resigned from the ministry to support El-Torabi and is currently the deputy secretary general of the Torabi party.
The Sudanese newspaper Alwan quoted as Torabi as saying that he expects the extension of demonstrations to other areas in Sudan considering it as an expression of the public's rejection to the government's policies.
