El-Torabi: We do not seek a strategic alliance with Umma party

Originally published

Hasan El-Torabi, the secretary general of the opposition public national conference in Sudan negated that his anticipated meeting in Doha today with El-Sadek El-Mahdi - head of the Umma party - forms a beginning to a strategic alliance between the two factions, saying that it is much beyond that and it could not end with an alliance with the opposition to reach the reign.

El-Torabi referred in press declarations yesterday that he will discuss with El-Mahdi what is taking place in the Sudanese political arena.

El-Torabi also said that Doha's meeting with EL-Mahdi has a great deal of importance because it precedes governmental steps for making presidential and parliamentary elections on the level of the governorates.

El-Torabi criticized the government for what he depicted as her obstruction to liberties and the continuation of the emergency measures as well as imposing "observation" on newspapers, depicting Khartoum's last decision of not allowing the women to work in places mixed with men of being strange saying that it has nothing to do with Islam.
