Tunisian participation in the first European - African

Spokesman of the Tunisian presidency Abd El-Wahab Abdullah announced the participation of President Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali in the first African summit in Cairo since 1994.

This comes in light of Tunis' concern with the 30th summit for the Organization of African Unity's support for the effort exerted by the Tunisian president to increase international awareness of Africa's issues and the challenges confronting it and working on overcoming the tension in it and being able to create a framework for the future.

Tunisian Minister of National Defense Mohamed Jegham, the special envoy of President Ben Ali, carried to Algeria a fraternal message to President Bouteflika concerning supporting the consultations between the two states.
