Moroccan envoy hands message to Tunisia's president

Originally published

Tunisian President Zine el Abidine Ben Ali on Tuesday received a message from King Mohammed VI handed over by the minister in charge of Maghreban affairs, Abdeslam Znined, who told reporters that the message was part of the firm relations of brotherhood and cooperation existing between the two states and of permanent consultation on issues of mutual concern, mainly at the regional level.

He said he conveyed Morocco's thanks to Tunisia for its backing to the candidacy of Moroccan Omar Kabbaj to a second term at the head of the African Development Bank (ADB).

Algeria had equally voiced backing to the Moroccan candidate, who has chaired the African financial institution since 1995.

The Abidjan-based ADB which has initiated its restructuring few years ago has supplied during the past two years loans to 50 African states, worth $1.8 billion per year. ADB is now concentrating action towards struggle against poverty, sustained development and private sector promotion.
