King Mohammed messages to African leaders
Several Moroccan envoys are still touring the African continent to deliver messages from King Mohammed VI to African leaders.
The messages deal with bilateral cooperation and ways to enhance inter-African cooperation.
The Moroccan envoys' talks with their various African interlocutors covered the candidacy of Moroccan Omar Kabbaj to a second term at the head of the African Development Bank (ADB).
In this vein, royal messages were conveyed last week to Presidents Yahya Jammeh of Gambia, Mathieu Kerekou of Benin and Koumba Yala of Guinea Bissau.
The three African leaders all voiced backing to Kabbaj's candidacy to head ADB for a second term, pointing out that the reforms enforced by Kabbaj since he took over as ADB president in 1995 have enabled the financial institution to recover its prestige and credibility.
The bank groups 53 African countries and 23 countries from other continents.
