Head of the Russian Duma council to visit Egypt after Algeria

Genady Sleznyouf, head of the Russian Duma council said the visit he started yesterday to Algeria comes as part of a tour that leads him to visit Egypt, hailing the existing relations between Algeria and Russia.

He said the visit of the Russian parliament to Algeria-- the first since the Russian legislative elections which took place in December, 1999-- assures Russia's adherence to developing bilateral relations in all fields.

Sleznyouf said this visit comes in the framework of the agreement signed last December between the Duma and the Algerian National Council (parliament) during the visit paid by Abdelkader Bensalah, head of the council, to Moscow.
