CGEM investigation finds most Moroccan enterprises fare well and promising
Most Moroccan enterprises are faring well and future prospects are promising, according to findings of an investigation by the Moroccan enterprise association (CGEM).
For over 3/4 of the 101 polled enterprises, production in the month of January has improved in comparison with the previous month, except for textile and leather firms which experienced a strong regression. Agro-industry, insurance, construction are the sectors that posted the best performances.
The same positive performance was reported in sales, especially for insurance, agro-industry, electric and electronic devices-making and assembling companies while exports of electric, electronic and grains companies knew a good progression of their exports, compared to those of textile and chemistry and para-chemistry which declined.
The investigation forecasts that for the coming three months, companies will range between evolution and stability in their output, global sales and exports and only selling prices will decrease.
Some sectors will post notable promising perspectives for their production and sales (agro-industry, electric and electronic industries, and insurance), while those of construction, public works and cereals expect important decreases in their prices.
Regarding stocks, it is estimated that the present production capacity is insufficient or largely insufficient for over 3/4 of polled enterprises. For 26% of the polled enterprises, the level of stocks of finished products is higher than average due to lower orders and exports.
The study also finds that in the last three months, 46% of the polled enterprises maintained the same competitiveness in international markets, allowing for a turnover stability for 40% of companies. Textile and agro-industry companies saw their competitive status regress.
