Chaired by Vice President Muhammad Zuheir Masharqa, the Syrian Progressive National Front (PNF) central leadership held a meeting on Monday evening.

The participants in the meeting listened to a comprehensive political report read by Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara on a number of issues related to Arab, regional and international conditions.

The participants also reviewed latest political developments, particularly those relating to the Israeli acts of aggression on Lebanon and the present conditions of the Middle East peace process.

They also discussed results of the Israeli attacks against Lebanon, aiming at destroying the Lebanese infrastructure and dragging Lebanon to accept matters which are in contradiction to the Lebanese national interests.

The participants asserted that these acts of aggression carried out by Israel will not undermine the steadfastness of the Lebanese people and government and the resistance operations carried out by the Lebanese resistance.

They asserted Syria's desire to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on international legitimacy resolutions, including complete Israeli withdrawal back to June 4, 1967 lines and the implementation of UN Security Council resolution 425 provides for complete withdrawal from south Lebanon.
