Former political detainee protest against naming a separatists' camp after him
Moroccan former political detainee, Abraham Serfaty, has protested against giving his name to a Polisario camp without his prior consent.
"My name was given without my consent to this camp, while I was in jail in 1980's," Serfaty said in a fax to MAP.
Serfaty recalled that he had requested the separatists, who claim sovereignty over Morocco's southern provinces, not to use his name.
Serfaty was jailed in the 1980's for opposition to the Moroccan regime. He was released in 1991 and went to France, where he spent 8 years. He returned to Morocco last September, MAP reported.
