Jordanians who deal with Israel prevented from entering Syria

Originally published

The Jordanian weekly al-Sabil quoted well-informed sources in Amman as saying that the Syrian authorities prevented several Jordanian figures, including journalists, from entering into the Syrian territories due to their relations with the "Zionist enemy," their frequent visits to Israel and their acceptance of official visits to Israel and meeting with its officials.

The weekly sources disclosed that these Jordanian figures were turned back at the Jordanian- Syrian borders during attempts they had made to cross in recent months, noting that among these persons are five Jordanian journalists and writers.

The paper indicated one of these persons indentified as "S. H," who is eventually Suleiman Hattab, a writer at the Jordanian daily al-Rai who was temporarily expelled from the Jordanian Journalists Union because of his visit to Israel along with Issa al-Shueibi and Jihad al-Moumini, as well as Abdullah Hasanat who works for the Jordan Times. Later the Journalists Union in Jordan was forced to suspend the dismemberment decision because of pressures made on it.
