Zain Hisham wins second Dakar 2026 gold, Egypt Independent reports
The swimmer's reported 50m butterfly victory took Egypt's medal total to four, including three golds.
Egyptian swimmer Zain Hisham won the men's 50m butterfly at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games on November 4, taking his second gold and bringing Egypt's medal tally to four, Egypt Independent reported.
The victory followed his gold in the 100m butterfly earlier in the competition. In its November 5 report, the newspaper said Hisham had become the first Egyptian competitor to win two gold medals at these Games.
Egypt Independent put Egypt's total after the latest swimming final at three gold medals and one bronze. Hisham accounted for two of those golds, with the other medals coming from wushu and judo.
Sondos Sonbol won the women's wushu gunshu gold, while Ali El-Ramly took bronze in the men's 81kg judo category, according to the newspaper. Together with Hisham's two butterfly victories, those results made up the four-medal tally it reported.
Egypt's delegation comprises 45 athletes competing across 19 sports, the newspaper said. It identified Egyptian Olympic Committee President Yasser Idris as overseeing the country's participation.
