The Algerian daily al-Khabar said on Thursday that the security forces killed some 23 armed men in Sedi Ali Bu Nab mountainous area in Tizi Ouzou district, 130 km from the capital, Algiers, in a vast mopping-up operation.

Violence in Algeria
The Algerian daily al-Youm has reported that army forces bombarded the Mazrana woods in Tizi Ouzou province using heavy artillery. Some 30 Armed Islamic Group members stay in the area, according to information given by three gunmen who surrendered themselves recently to the Algerian security sources.
