Ahmadi-Nejad: Lebanon was battle field between arrogance and mankind
Iran-USA, Politics, 8/18/2006

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadi-Nejad said yesterday that what was witnessed in Lebanon was a real battle field of an unequal war between the world arrogance and united mankind.

He made the remark at a public gathering in the town of Namin on the third day of his provincial tour to Ardebil province along with his cabinet.

The chief executive referred to Lebanon as a transparent battle field, where a war was fought between a group of world arrogance -- the so called defenders of human rights -- and united mankind, whose resistance was aimed at promoting peace, restoring human dignity as well as securing independence and freedom.

Ahmadi-Nejad said that the war in Lebanon manifested the eight-year imposed war in Iran and the devoted resistance of the Iranian nation against Saddam Hussein, who was encouraged by the US and Britain to attack Iran.

The president said that now, 17 years on, the Iraqi-imposed war, they are still dizzy from the Iranian nation's hard slap on their face.

"In the recent crisis created in Lebanon by the enemies, they imagined that they can conquer the country in two days, attach it to Israel and make a new Middle East in the region.

"The admirable resistance of Lebanon made the world realize what a disgracing defeat the dishonored Zionists faced," said the president.

Addressing the UN, he said that the whole world has witnessed that the US and Britain were accomplices to the Zionists crimes in Lebanon.

He added, "This explains the call of all world nations for expelling these two undesirable elements from the United Nations Security Council.

"Their governments are not committed to any human values, while they consider themselves as the protector of nations and human values.

Though they give slogans on independence of nations, they are the only group standing in the way of such independence, for which they expect to be appreciated." The chief executive said that even when a group stands up against them to reveal their true vicious face to the world they call them 'terrorists'.

"They are the ones who attacked Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan with atomic bombs. However, they are now attempting to put on a peaceful outlook to deprive the Iranian nation of its right to nuclear energy for peaceful purposes," said the president.

Noting that Iran has repeatedly declared that its nuclear programs are peaceful, he underlined that despite Iran's transparency, they say Iranians may deviate from peaceful use of such energy to production of atomic bombs.

"Governments raising such charges against Iran should themselves be disarmed. Given that Iranian nation is consolidated in defending its right, they will not be able to deprive us of our inalienable right by holding sessions and through bureaucracy.

"They believe that by inciting some individuals as well as through their postures and approaches they can create discord among the Iranian people. However, they should know that they are totally mistaken," added the president.
