Qatar's foreign minister calls on the Arabs to pressure Israel
Qatar-Palestine, Politics, 9/24/2005
The Qatari foreign minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jaber al-Thani said that the Arab states should confirm to the Israelis that the problem with them will be only solved if the Palestinian rights are restored.
He stressed to journalists after his meeting with the US secretary of state Condaleezza Rice that the differences "between us and you" is the need to see Arab rights return back, noting that the Arabs admitted Israel and Israel is a member in the UN.
On the issue of normalizing relations with Israel, the minister said "it was not just a call, rather to talk face to face for the next steps concerning the peace making operation and ending the Israeli occupation for West Bank areas."
The Qatari minister explained: it is not a call to open relations, rather to open a dialogue between us and the Israeli side, noting that all Arab states hold unanimous views that, if this problem ends, there will be normal relations and this was approved during the Beirut Arab summit.
