Dakhlallah underlines common Syrian-Turkish interests

Ties Information Minister Mahdi Dakhlallah underlined Wednesday the importance of Syrian-Turkish relationships, pointing out at their reflection upon enhancing direction towards a just and comprehensive peace in the region.

"We are looking for developing cooperation between the two countries, creating permanent interests and joint ties in addition to establishing joint projects related to the long-term interests between the two sides," the minister told reporters on the margin of Sezer's visit to Syria.

Regarding peace process in the Middle East Dakhlallah stressed that Israel shows no signal that it really wants peace saying "Syria and Turkey are calling for peace while Israel is going on in its aggression and refusal to implement the UN resolutions."

"This problem can be solved" said the minister clarifying that this will be by placing real international pressure for just and comprehensive peace.

On situation in Iraq the Minister said that Syria and Turkey have always agreed on the joint firm principles which are Iraq's unity, sovereignty and stability.

"Iraq's stability leads to the whole region's stability particularly Syria and Turkey," added the minister.

Meantime, Syria and Turkey on Wednesday discussed bilateral ties and horizons of joint cooperation between the two friendly countries in all fields, as well means of enhancing them in the interest of both peoples.

Premier Naji Otari met President Ahmet Necdet Sezer of Turkey at his residence in Tishreen Palace in Damascus.
