Al-Assad's visit to Moscow statements

Deputy leader of the Russian Communist Party Ivan Milinkov said that the upcoming visit of President Bashar al-Assad to Russia will play a great role in advancing the process of bilateral relations in different fields, particularly the political and economic areas.

Milinkov said in a statement to SANA on Thursday that Syria is the most important partner for Russia in the Middle East.

He pointed out to the identical stances between the two countries on many international issues, especially on the Middle East and fighting the international terrorism, calling for a multi-polar world to find peaceful and just solutions to the existing international questions away from military threats.

For his part, Prof. Yunid Siokiatin of the Higher Academy of Economics strongly denounced the "fabricated Israeli propaganda campaigns and some allied media." Sioiatin said in a similar statement that President al-Assad's visit "carries a lot of meanings, and we attach great importance to it due to the current regional and international situationsÉwe hope that this visit will yield very positive results, and I'm sure that it will constitute a new step on the way of boosting friendship relations between Syria and Russia in various fields." He asserted that Syria plays a very important role in the Middle East peace process and enjoys a pioneering position in the field of efforts for a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
