Al-Assad receives a message from Cuban president

President Bashar al-Assad on Monday received a message from Cuban President Fidel Castro over bilateral ties between Syria and Cuba and means of cementing them.

Vice President of the Executive Committee of the Council of Ministers, and Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba Jose Ramon Fernandez Alvarez handed the message to President al-Assad when received him this noon at al-Shaab Palace.

Talks during the meeting have dealt with ties of friendship and cooperation with Cuba on the political and party levels to coordinate positions over an upcoming meeting this year in Havana on south-south, and the non-aligned summit next year.

Discussions also touched upon conditions in the region mainly in Iraq and the Palestinian Occupied Territories.

Cuba's ambassador in Damascus Claudio Ramos Borrego attended the meeting.
