Escalation of attacks in Iraq

Al-Jihad al-Qaida Organization In Mesopotamia which is led by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi threatened the Iraqi police and national guards which collaborate with the multi national forces led by the US of carrying out more attacks.

These threats came in a video tape issued on the Internet in which the organization claimed responsibility for several attacks that targeted the American forces and the Iraqi police and national guards in recent days. The organization also claimed responsibility for blowing up two booby trapped car three days ago in al-Musil city to the north of the country.

The organization claimed responsibility for the attack which targeted the Iraqi police in Tikrit last Tuesday and resulted in killing 18 policemen. The statement indicated that its fighters were behind the attack against one American position in Samera in the same day.

In another development, the Iraqi security forces on Saturday detained in al-Najaf al-Ashraf to the south of Baghdad some 11 persons believed to have entered Iraq illegally from Saudi Arabia.
