Hundreds of armed men control al-Ramada downtown
Iraq, Military, 11/10/2004

Near Falluja, to its east, Iraqi police sources and witnesses said that hundreds of gunmen gathered in the downtown of al-Ramadi and took their positions in the area, while the north west quarters of the city witnessed violent clashes and explosions were heard near one American base to the east of al-Ramadi.

News were contradictory over the number of killings in the attacks which targeted the police centers in Baqouba. While Reuters said quoting medical sources that number of killing reached 45, leader of Deyali police said that no police member was killed in the attacks.

Al-Jihad Qaida Group in Mesopotamia, which affiliates to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, claimed responsibility in a statement on the Internet for the attacks on three police centers in Baqouba and other attacks in Sameraa, al-Anbar and downing one American helicopter in Falluja. A news the American army denied later.

In another development, the American army announced the killing of two of its soldiers on Tuesday in an attack by shelling on their base in al-Musil city to the north of Iraq. No more details were given.

" K and N" camp to the west of Karkouk city was exposed to an attack by a booby trapped car. News reports in Irbil said that the explosion resulted in killing two persons and injuring other three.

In Karbala, one police officer was killed and other 9 injured in a bomb explosion near their center on Tuesday evening. Two members of the national guards were killed in an explosion when their procession was running in Balad to the north of Baghdad.
