Gul: al-Assad's visit is a starting point for a new stage of Turkish- Syrian relations

Turkish Foreign Minister, Abdullah Gul has stressed that President Bashar al-Assad's forthcoming visit will be a starting point for a new stage between the two countries.
In a statement issued on Monday, Gul expressed his country's pleasure over the new policy of cooperation between Syria and Turkey, and stressed the necessity for developing this cooperation in all domains.
"Syria is an important state for Turkey because it is considered as Turkey's gate to the Middle East region, and Turkey is considered as Syria's gate to Europe." Gul said.
