Syria-Turkey, Politics, 11/20/2002

A Turkish security delegation started as from Monday an official visit to Damascus in order to hold security talks that will fall in the course of the Turkish- Syrian security coordination which started since 1998.

To this effect, the Syrian army chief of staff received the Turkish delegation which is chaired by Lt. Gen. Sheza Rigore, the commander general for the Turkish police, in the presence of the chairman of the political security department Lt. Gen. Ghazi Kanaan.

"Talks dealt with the conditions in the region and bilateral relations between the armies of the two friendly countries and means of consolidating them in the services of the interests of the people of Syria and Turkey."

Yesterday, the Syrian official news agency ( SANA) said that relatives and families split between Syria and Turkey will visit each other during Eid al-Fiter. A measure similar to that which took place in last Ramadan.
