Mahmoud Abbas denies forthcoming meeting with Sharon because of Oslo statements
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 9/11/2002

The secretary of the executive committee in the PLO has denied what was published by the Israeli mass media on a forthcoming meeting between him and the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon.

Abu Mazen also denied to have had contacted Sharon asking for a meeting with him, as Israeli media reported on Tuesday. He said that these news are null, and groundless.

Abbas indicated that the Palestinian efforts will be concentrated in this phase on halting the Israeli onslaught against the Palestinian people, killing the innocents and ending the siege and the curfew and stopping destruction of the Palestinian foundations.

Abbas explained that with Sharon's statements about the death of the Oslo agreements and all reached agreements and understandings finalized by the Palestinian and Israeli sides, there will be no way for talks about meetings in this phase.
