Palestinian resistance reject to Israel's Gaza First Plan, Israeli breaking acts
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 8/20/2002

The Palestinian youth Mahmoud Ameen Abu Odeh ( 13 year old) has died after he was hit in his leg by a tank shell during the Israeli forces breaking into the city of Jenin in the course of a campaign of breaking in which also covered the towns of Barqin, Beit Sahour, al-Jalazoun camp in the West Bank amid a campaign of arrest which targeted 6 Palestinians and other 10 from Nour Shams camp near Toulkarem.

In Nablus, the Israeli forces destroyed a house in al-Qasaba quarters and clashed with the citizens who hurried to defend their houses and this resulted in wounding one citizen and wounding one Israeli soldier.

The Palestinians retaliated by firing a shell at a settlement to the north of Gaza and they also opened fire and explosives at several positions for the Israeli forces in Rafah while members of the said Israeli position opened fire randomly at the houses of the Palestinian citizens.

As for the so-called "Gaza first plan" which was expanded to be "Gaza, Bethlehem first" which states gradual Israeli withdrawal from the Palestinian areas starting as from Gaza and Bethlehem, the two Palestinian resistance movements of Hamas and the Islamic Jihad rejected the said plan and found in it a restriction to the Palestinian national resistance movement which will be then used to eliminate the Palestinian Intifada.

The two movements stressed continued resistance against the Israeli occupation.

One of the Hamas leader Ismael Haneya said that the movement and the Palestinians refuse any agreement or plan that restrict the movement of the resistance and does not aim at ending the occupation of all Palestinian territories. He stressed that this "Gaza, Bethlehem first plan" aims at ending the Intifada and perpetuating the occupation.

The official spokesman for the "Islamic Jihad" Abdullah al-Shami stressed the movement's rejection to this plan and considered it as an Israeli objective to strike the resistance and eliminate the Palestinian resistance." He said that the Israeli government wants from this plan to link the Palestinians and their future to the intention of the Israeli occupation and its policy which is based on killing, destruction and conspiracies against the Palestinian and usurping the lands of the Palestinians."

Al-Shami indicated the need of committing to the right of resistance against the Israeli occupation as far as occupation continued of the Palestinian territories.
