Al-Shara phone calls with Hammoud, Moussa on developments

The Syrian deputy premier and foreign minister Farouk al-Shara on Monday received a telephone call with the Lebanese foreign minister Mahmoud Hammoud during which views were exchanged on the developments of conditions concerning the next meeting of the Arab initiative committee due to be held in Beirut.

Another telephone call was made on Monday between al-Shara and the secretary general of the Arab League Amr Moussa during which several Arab and international issues were debated, especially developments on the Palestinian arena and means of dealing with them in serve of the interests of the Arab nation.

Meantime, the Lebanese foreign minister on Monday announced that the ministerial committee concerning the Arab peace initiative of the Beirut summit will be held in Beirut within the few coming days.

In a statement, Hammoud said he had made contacts with several Arab counterparts and that he received replies on convening the meeting in Beirut.

Hammoud, on the other hand, presided over a series of meetings to prepare the files to be submitted to the committee's meeting relating to latest developments and conditions in the region.
