Vanuatu no longer recognizes whimsical SADR
Morocco-Vanuatu, Politics, 12/8/2000
The government of the Vanuatu Republic withdrew recognition of the so-called Sahrawi republic "SADR" saying it would wait for the UN referendum outcome.
Vanuatu which recognized the ghostly entity as of November 26, 1980 becomes the fourth country in the region to recant the decision. Kiribati, Nauru and Tuvalu in Oceania have already withdrawn recognition from separatists.
In the same year, other countries such as Honduras, Costa-Rica, India, Paraguay and Nicaragua, decided to renounce recognition of the so-called "SADR."
